Add your first site ​

This guide takes a new account from sign-in to a check that is ready to learn. Nothing runs unattended until you review a successful first run.

Sign in ​

Journeys uses an emailed sign-in link instead of a password. Enter your email on the sign-in page, open the newest message, and use its link within 15 minutes. The link works once. If it has expired or was already used, request a new one.

Your account is created the first time you sign in.

Add the site ​

Choose Add site, then enter the public URL for the product you want to watch. Journeys saves the site's root address, even if you enter a page farther down the site. You can give it a more useful name later in Site settings.

Journeys must be able to resolve and open the address from its hosted browser. Private network addresses and destinations blocked by the instance cannot be used. Browser navigation is kept inside the site's allowed domain.

If the URL is already in your account, Journeys opens the existing site rather than creating a duplicate.

Choose how to begin ​

The add-site screen offers three paths:

  • Start monitoring adds the recommended basic checks for a general site.
  • Choose the checks opens the catalog so you can select them yourself.
  • Write your own check creates the site and opens an empty check editor.

The catalog groups checks such as availability, navigation, signup, login, search, product pages, checkout, contact forms, and newsletter signup. Presets for common kinds of site select a useful starting set; you can still add or remove individual selections.

Read the warning beside a check before selecting it. Some catalog checks have real side effects. For example, they may create an account, request a password reset, send an invitation or contact message, create a subscription, or leave an item in a cart. A checkout check does not place an order or make a payment, but it can still alter a real cart.

When one catalog check needs another, Journeys selects its prerequisite too. For example, a signed-in flow may need a successful signup or login check first.

What adding actually does ​

Adding a site and its checks saves their definitions. It does not start a run, arm monitoring, spend credits, or claim that the site is up.

Each new check is Draft. Open it and choose Run while you can watch the browser. After a passing run, review the path and choose Yes, start watching. The next guide explains learning and approval in detail.

No badge is honest at this point

Before a scheduled check has produced a verdict, Journeys does not invent an Up or Down status for the site.

Add more checks later ​

Open the site and choose Add check. You can return to the catalog or write a custom check. Catalog entries already present on the site are marked Already watched and cannot be added twice.

Checks you save but have not started watching are listed as written but not watched on the site page.
